If you've driven past Crawley Town FC, chances are you've noticed the giant football on the roundabout outside the stadium. It's one of those features that quietly becomes part of the town — a landmark people use to give directions, a familiar sight on the way to a match or a trip past Broadfield Stadium.
Recently, the Skyhawk Exterior Cleaning team had the opportunity to give this recognisable Crawley landmark a much-needed clean — completely free of charge. We reached out to the team at the club to see if they'd be happy for us to take it on, and they were extremely grateful for the offer.
A Familiar Crawley Landmark
Skyhawk Exterior Cleaning is a local exterior-cleaning company serving Crawley and the surrounding areas of West Sussex and Surrey. We spend our days on roofs, driveways, render and gutters — so we're used to noticing when the exterior of a building or structure is looking tired.
Cleaning a recognisable local landmark was a little different from a normal residential or commercial job. A house or a warehouse is important to the people who own it, but a landmark belongs to the whole town. The giant football is something Crawley residents see regularly, and we wanted to get it back to looking its best for everyone passing through.
Crawley's Giant Football Before the Clean
Sitting on a busy roundabout, the football is exposed to traffic and the British weather all year round. Over time, the surface had built up a visible layer of grime, algae and environmental staining — the kind of build-up you'd expect on any exterior surface left exposed to the elements next to a live road.
Giving the Landmark a Professional Clean
We assessed the structure and carried out a professional exterior clean to lift the grime and organic growth that had built up on the surface. Because the landmark sits on a live roundabout, the work was planned carefully so it could be cleaned safely without putting road users or our team at risk.

We filmed the project so you can see the clean for yourself. Watch our short video of the team restoring Crawley's giant football landmark.
The Finished Result
Once the grime and organic growth had been lifted, the landmark was back to a clean, bright finish — a welcome sight for Crawley Town fans and everyone passing the roundabout. The transformation was exactly what we'd hoped for when we offered to take the project on.
Giving Something Back to Crawley
We carried out this clean completely free of charge. As a local company based in the Crawley area, we wanted to give something back to the town and help tidy up a landmark that means something to the people who live and work here. It was a genuine community contribution rather than a commercial job — and a genuinely rewarding one to be part of.
Not Every Exterior Cleaning Job Looks the Same
Not every exterior-cleaning project is a house, a driveway or a roof. Skyhawk also assesses commercial properties and more unusual exterior surfaces — from roadside structures and landmarks to the everyday commercial buildings that keep a town running.
We provide professional exterior cleaning for both commercial and domestic clients across Sussex and Surrey, including schools, businesses, sports grounds, warehouses, retail units and family homes. Every project is assessed individually to select a safe, effective approach for the specific surface — and not every material or structure can be cleaned the same way. You can read more about our wider capabilities on our commercial exterior cleaning page.
